Hooray! A Bentley footballers won’t buy
When a footballer goes to the battlefield (training pitch) they either take two weapons. Their primary weapon is the Bentley Continental GT and their reliable back up is their Range Rover Sport. But one Bentley they definitely will not consider to have in their arsenal is the Flying Star by Italian car maker Touring Superleggera.
This Bentley GTC has been transformed into a shooting-brake. For those not in the know, shooting breaks are seriously cool and very rare nowadays. A shooting-brake is a 2-door car style with a squared-off rear. They generally have hatchbacks although one or a pair of side-hinged doors is also sometimes seen.
The term originated with custom built 2-door luxury estate cars altered for use by hunters and other sportsmen such as golfers, riders, and polo players requiring easy access to larger storage areas than offered by the typical automobile boot. And footballers could put loads of their boot bags in the back of the Flying star as it could load four golf bags in its elongated boot.
With fold down rear seats you could even call this practical and stylish. But one reason footballers won’t put this outside their gated house is because the majority can’t afford it – even on their dizzy salaries. Starting at £530K this isn’t a shooting- brake going cheap and only 20 examples are being made a year. So if you want a Bentley which you can also help your mum move her sofa with, get this one.
