Motorfood’s Goodwood 09 photostream

The annual petrolheads garden party was amazing as always this year. Of course I am talking about The Goodwood Festival of Speed held on Lord March’s estate in West Sussex. If you have never been I would strongly recommend it. Goodwood is the only place in the world where you can get up close to some of the most prestigious cars in the motoring world, then watch them sprint up the 1.16 mile hill climb.

This year, as always, was spectacular. In its 17th year the Festival of Speed (or FoS to the die hard fans) is such a well organised and attended event by all of the motoring Glitetterati.

This year Audi celebrated its centennial and did it in style. They commissioned a 39 meter twisting sculpture of tire tracks with a 1937 Auto Union streamliner and new Audi R8 V10 suspended at either end. It  looked like Wayne Szalinski had been playing with his lazer gun and blown up a massive section of Scalextric.

Porsche also saw Goodwood as somewhere to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary 917. Porsche brought the biggest selection of 917′s ever seen and all in different liveries. But it is not just about the classics from time gone by as all of the most modern super and race cars also strut their stuff and leave some rubber on the road and paint on the flint wall.

I would highly recommend going leaving the Goodwood weekend free in your diary but be quick when buying tickets because they have a tendency to sell out. To give you a feel for the Festival of Speed check out our Flickr stream below and tell us what car you would like to see at the FoS.
